Today at around 10:17 AM, a bomb has rocked outside the Delhi High court. At least 70 people have been injured in the incident. There is no official confirmation on causalities in the blast, but the report suggests that there are at least 11. The incident took place outside the Delhi High court at gate no 5. Soon after police, bomb squad and ambulance rushed to the spot. NIA and NSG commandos have also reported later. The bomb was planted in a suit case outside the Delhi high courts. Soon after, the bomb squad confirmed that it was a high intensity blast.
Earlier on May 2011, a bomb has exploded in the Delhi High Court premises, but that was a low intensity blast and there were no causalities. This has come as a shocker since it was the second blast to take place in the same place in a span of 4 months. It clearly shows how much alert our government and intelligence agencies are. There were panic and frustration among the common people in Delhi over the repeated failure of the government.
The terrorist group HUJI has claimed responsibility for the attack. All the cities have been put under high alert after the incident. From this it has become evident that the Indian Cities are the soft targets and are very much vulnerable to the terrorist attack.
PM Manmohan Singh condemned the attack and mentioned it a cowardly act to destabilize the country. Home Minister Chidambaram also rushed to the spot to analyse the situation. Leaders from all around the world condemned the blast and offer its support to India.
