Delhi Blast - Terror Trail Continues.......

Today at around 10:17 AM, a bomb has rocked outside the Delhi High court. At least 70 people have been injured in the incident. There is no official confirmation on causalities in the blast, but the report suggests that there are at least 11. The incident took place outside the Delhi High court at gate no 5. Soon after police, bomb squad and ambulance rushed to the spot. NIA and NSG commandos have also reported later. The bomb was planted in a suit case outside the Delhi high courts. Soon after, the bomb squad confirmed that it was a high intensity blast.
Earlier on May 2011, a bomb has exploded in the Delhi High Court premises, but that was a low intensity blast and there were no causalities. This has come as a shocker since it was the second blast to take place in the same place in a span of 4 months.  It clearly shows how much alert our government and intelligence agencies are. There were panic and frustration among the common people in Delhi over the repeated failure of the government.
The terrorist group HUJI has claimed responsibility for the attack. All the cities have been put under high alert after the incident. From this it has become evident that the Indian Cities are the soft targets and are very much vulnerable to the terrorist attack.
PM Manmohan Singh condemned the attack and mentioned it a cowardly act to destabilize the country.  Home Minister Chidambaram also rushed to the spot to analyse the situation. Leaders from all around the world condemned the blast and offer its support to India.

Mac OS X Lion – Review

Today, I am presenting to you my first hand experience of the Mac OS X – Lion. First Impression by the looks, I feel that it is more or less like its previous version Snow Leopard. But in fact there were tons of other underlying features presented with the new version. Apple claims that there are over 250 newly added features and enhancements to this new product. Apple is trying to regain in the market which is having a hard competition with Windows and Linux.  So, we will start reviewing its latest features as compared to its previous versions.

1) Installation
Mac OS X Lion is not presented in optical drives rather users have to download the OS from the Apple Mac website. This is a strategy as users don’t need to go to the apple store for purchasing the OS. The installation is faster than other operating system which took only 40 minutes to complete. The installation is very much easy and straight forward that anyone with less computer experience can do that.  The interface for the installation is also well directive and informational. But the main thing which impressed me is that, we are up and running in just 40 Minutes.

2) Upgrade
Snow leopard can be upgraded to Mac OS X Lion for just 30$ which is just a nominal amount. This surely will attract a lot of customer as they can upgrade for just 30$.

3)Look and feel
At a first glance, it looks very much like the Apple OS X snow leopard but a closer look to it will reveal some of the new user interface looks. But to be honest, there is not much difference in graphics but with the addition of some new animations it looks more elegant.

4) Scroll Bar
With Mac OS X Lion, Apple has completely eliminated the scroll bar. Now Scrolling is done with the twin hands or with the magic mouse. Natural scrolling experience is felt to me in its new version which is more like scrolling in iphone or ipad.

5) System resume
The restart of the Mac OS Lion is more like the system resume in Windows. If the system is restarted, it will resume all the sessions and software which are not closed before powering off. This indeed is a great feature as it can save a lot of time for the end users. Users do not have to reload the application or other files again after the booting.

6)  Launchpad
LaunchPad was one of the most heavily promoted features of Mac OSX. IOS like experience has been embedded in Mac OS X Lion also.

7) Touch Screen
I think I don’t need to mention this as you know the Apple’s touch screen technology is the best in the market. With the introduction of Mac Lion, the touch screen experience has reached a new limit for desktop PC’s.

8) Versions
Another major enhancement for the Mac Lion is the Versions. Suppose a document is created on 1st and edited on 2nd and 3rd, you can always go back to the previous versions even if you have saved the document. This is a handy feature which allows you undo the changes done to your document even if a critical error or modification has happened. This is more or less like Previous version in Windows.

9) Security
After a recent malware breach in Mac OS, apple has introduced a new disk encryption technology to protect the PC.

One the whole, I will rate 4.5 in the scale of 5. Even though this looks more like an incremental update, it surely has lots of much need feature and enhancements to its credit. But in my opinion, this actually is a product to try as you have spent a mere 30$ for the upgrade.

Vsphere 5 – The next Generation Virtualization

On July 12th 2011, VMware unveiled VSphere 5. VMware’s CEO Paul Maritz has launched this product at a live event in California. This suite is much awaited by everyone after the launch of its previous version Vsphere four years ago.

With over 200 new and enhanced features, this surely will revolutionize the way virtualization works. Now VMware has collaborated this with cloud infrastructure which provides better efficiency and stability. With the launch of this, they have put an end to the ESX architecture while developing this product with ESXi architecture. Hence there will be a significant difference for the client machine as it will require a few drivers. With Vsphere 5, we can achieve 100% virtualization.

While more and more companies are opting for the virtualization, this will be a big leap forward for VMware to increase its market share. As a dominant in virtualization, the competitors like Microsoft and Citrix will have to prove with its new product to sustain in market. While the market for Hyper V and Xen server has declined, Vsphere still remains the pioneer product in virtualization.

In a statement at the live event VMware CEO Paul Maritz said "The market has fully embraced virtualization as a key transformative technology at the heart of the next era of computing. With vSphere® 5 and our cloud infrastructure suite, VMware is helping customers accelerate towards more efficient and automated cloud infrastructure, redefining how resources are managed and secured, and ultimately, driving a more productive relationship between IT and the businesses they serve."

Please find some of the exiting features

Larger VM’s
Vsphere 5 supports 4 times larger and powerful virtual machine than its predecessor. It will enable to host more and more business critical application with broader processors and enhanced memory.

Memory
Virtual machines hosted with this can support up to one terabyte of memory while its predecessor supports only 256 GB. This will enable more business critical application to host in a guest operating system.

Processor
It supports 32 way SMP in a virtual machine, while VSphere 4 supports only 8 virtual CPU.

I/O Operation
These VMs will be able to process in excess of 1 million I/O operations per second, which will far surpass current requirements of even the most resource-intensive applications.

High Availability (HA)
Vsphere 5 introduces a new architecture for HA which is more stable, scalable and superior availability feature. This will make sure all the VM to be online 24/7 and thereby guaranteeing business continuity.

Policy Management
Three new automation advancements will deliver cloud agility. VMware vSphere 5 will introduce three new features that automate datacenter resource management to help IT respond to the business faster while reducing operating expenses.  These features will deliver intelligent policy management: a “set it and forget it” approach to datacenter resource management. Customers will define the policy and establish the operating parameters, and VMware vSphere 5 will do the rest.  VMware vSphere 5 intelligent policy management features will include:

a) Auto-Deploy will enable IT to automatically deploy servers “on the fly” and will be able to
reduce the time it takes to deploy a datacenter with 40 servers from 20 hours to 10
minutes. Once the servers are up and running, Auto-Deploy will also automate the
patching process, making it possible to instantly apply patches to many servers at once.

b) Profile-Driven Storage will reduce the number of steps required to select storage resources by grouping storage according to user-defined policies (i.e. gold, silver, bronze). During the provisioning process, customers will simply click to specify which level of service the VM requires, and VMware vSphere will automatically use the storage resources that best align with that level of service.

c) Storage DRS will extend the automated load balancing capabilities VMware first
introduced in 2006 with Distributed Resource Scheduler™ to include storage characteristics. Once a customer has set the storage policy of a VM, Storage DRS will automatically manage the placement and balancing of the VM across storage resources. By automating the ongoing resource allocations, Storage DRS will eliminate the need for IT to monitor or intervene, while ensuring the VM maintains the service level defined by its policy.

ESXi Architecture
It is build on ESXi architecture which is exclusively designed for Virtual hypervisor architecture.
VMware vSphere 5 is the first version of VMware vSphere built exclusively on ESXi™, the only hypervisor purpose-built for virtualization that runs independently from a general-purpose operating system. With an ultrathin architecture, ESXi delivers industry leading performance, reliability and scalability all within a footprint less than 100MB, which means streamlined deployment and configuration as well as simplified patching and updating and better security.

Mumbai Blast - When will India Learn??

Yet another terrorist attack has devastated India’s commercial capital, Mumbai. Terrorism remains to haunt the people of the country. Country has been silent for a while but this attack shows the terrorist is still active here. At around 7 pm on Wednesday, 3 blasts rocked Mumbai among which two has been identified as high intensity. It is reported that 21 people lost their lives wile 135 people has been admitted to hospital for injuries. The first blast took place in Zaveri Bazar at 6:54 PM while another blast rocked at opera house after a minute. The third blast reported at Dadar went off at 7:05 PM. High intensity blast were identified in Zaveri  bazaar and Opera House while Dadar’s was low intensity.  All the three places are heavily crowded. Still no terrorist outfits have claimed responsibility for the attack, but source says it might be Indian Mujahidin behind the attack. Ammonium nitrate with IED was used to carry out the blast.
Police has reported to the sight immediately after the attack. Relief operations were quickly carried out jointly by police and the locals. Soon forensic experts and bomb squad took control of the situation. Commandos and senior forensic experts were also flown to Mumbai. The Scene was sealed so as to not hamper the post blast investigation. Samples were collected and preserved. High alert notice was issued to Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, who had called the terror strike "an attack on the heart of India" yesterday, announced compensation for victims of the blast - Rs. 5 lakhs each to the families of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 each for those injured.
This is indeed a shame for government as it has again failed to act upon the intelligence inputs. There has been a lot of anger and anguish among the citizens over the inability of the government. Soon tweets and post began flowing in which termed government as spineless, irresponsible and Cowards. There has been a vibrant outrage among the citizen of India as they are fed up with the government’s irresponsible attitude. Home Minister P Chidambaram has visited all the three sites. He will be addressing the media shortly. World leader strongly condemn the attack and extend their support to India.

It became clear and evident that our government has not learned anything from its tons of previous experiences. Even though, hundred more attacks happens in our soil, they will forget everything. I urge people to be more vigilant and cautious.
Sorrow and Agony still remains in my heart and prayers to my fellow brothers and sisters who have lost lives and injured in the incident.
When will India learn and make us a Secured nation?
                                                                Jai Hind!!!!!!!!!

Facebook Vs Google Video Calling

At last Facebook has launched the video calling in its social networking site. This has intensified the rivalry between the facebook and google over domination in social networking market. While Google’s orkut has become failure now, it is trying to catch up with facebook with the new google+ project site. Google+ project has also similar feature which they call google hang out. Presently this has been in a testing phase open to very few limited user. By introducing video calling option, it became a relevant fact that video conferencing is becoming an important feature in social networking market.

While facebook has teamed up with skype to develop this feature, google has done that by its own.  Skype is the most dominant player in video calling market with its easy to use facilities which include PC to phone and PC to PC calling. It also has voip technology which they might implement in facebook at a later stage. Recently skype was acquired by Microsoft. Facebook is more depending on the google rivals to defame it.  Google is focusing on video conferencing, but facebook is more focused on video calling. This actually means that in google+ project, a maximum of 10 users can engage simultaneously in a group video chat but facebook allows only one to one. This is actually plus point for google to have the feature.  Facebook is still the dominating player in market with 750 million user but there are reports that about its diminishing popularity. Google will take advantage of this to gain popularity.  With the introduction of google+ project, it is sure that google will take away some of its market.
Google+ project interface looks more like facebook making it simpler. Rumours are there stating that google will introduce this to the mass by August 2011. Now everybody is trying hard to get a glimpse of the google+ project. But due to reason that it is being in testing, it has given access to limited users. Reports indicate that response for it is massive while facebook is declining. This will compel facebook to bring up with new features in the coming days to sustain.  Google is coming up with more and more creative ideas and features to overtake facebook.  It also has come up with features like group chatting on mobile devices. Now a days mobile applications market is on the boom, facebook must emphasize on these technology.
I am presenting  clips of both Facebook and Google+ project.
